Co-Executive Director
Mike Fitts has been a strong advocate of the COSH movement since 1987 when he attended a “Train the Trainer” program that was hosted by ConnectiCOSH. Mike joined the staff of ConnectiCOSH in April of 1998. In 2001 he became ConnectiCOSH’s Executive Director while maintaining his position as Trainer. As a member of The New England Consortium ConnectiCOSH sends Mike all over New England to teach Emergency Response and HAZWOPER courses to people who work at hazardous waste sites and to emergency responders who work in factory settings that fall under OSHA’s jurisdiction. Prior to joining ConnectiCOSH, Mike worked at General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation from 1974-1998. He was assigned to the Safety Committee for the Metal Trades Council in 1986, and in 1989 was promoted to be the Chairman of the committee. Besides overseeing ConnectiCOSH and training New England workers, Mike spends many of his weekends Bracket Racing at the Lebanon Valley Dragway where he can either be found up in the announcer’s booth or behind the wheel of a dragster.
